✢ Donate Blood- Save lives
The blood donation camp organized by the NSS unit of GKCE, in partnership with the Indian Red Cross Society on 5th February, 2024. It not only facilitated over 50 donations but also fostered a sense of social responsibility and empathy among the student community. Such initiatives play a crucial role in nurturing a culture of altruism and humanitarianism among young minds, preparing them to be compassionate leaders of tomorrow.
✢ Srikrishnastami Celebrations
On 7th September 2023, the NSS unit organized vibrant celebrations to mark Srikrishnastami, a festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. The event brought together students, faculty, and staff to commemorate this auspicious occasion with traditional rituals and cultural performances. The Bomma Kolu arrangement at GKCE featured a vibrant display of dolls, idols, and figurines meticulously arranged on multiple tiers (padis). “Utti Kottadam,” a traditional practice where hostel boys enthusiastically participated in breaking clay urns. This event symbolizes joy and celebration, echoing the playful spirit of Lord Krishna. Kolattam, a traditional folk dance, captivated the audience with its rhythmic movements and vibrant music, celebrating the essence of Srikrishnastami in a lively and colorful manner. The event not only honoured the traditions associated with Srikrishnastami but also promoted unity and camaraderie among the college community.
✢ Republic Day Celebrations-2024
The 75th Republic Day of India was celebrated with gaiety and patriotic fervour at Gokula Krishna College of Engineering, Sullurpeta amidst the foggy morning of 26th January, 2024. The ceremony took place in the presence of Shri. C. Srinivasa baba garu, Management member of GKGI, Dr. M. Suresh Principal, GKCE and Dr. B. Pavan Kumar Principal, GKCP, HoDs of various departments, faculty, staff members and students. The ceremony commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Honourable Management member Shri. C. Srinivasa baba. This was accompanied by the rendition of National Anthem led by the college’s cultural Club. The programme moved forward with an incredible display of parade by the NSS team of GKCE. The heartfelt renditions of patriotic songs aroused feelings of love and brotherhood among all. Both the Principals addressed the gathering and highlighted the achievements of the concern colleges. They underscored the steps the concern college has taken to ensure an overall development of its students and took pride in mentioning that the colleges are being marched towards the autonomous status. Shri C. Srinivasa baba emphasized upon the quality education which would help in the development of the city and the country at large. He briefly discussed the issues that the nation is currently facing and urged everyone to unite and stand against them. He insisted the students to do projects which will be useful to the society and promised that the best community service projects will be awarded. The hour long ceremony culminated with the release of tri-coloured balloons.
✢ ROAD SAFETY
On 30th January 2024, the NSS unit of GKCE, in collaboration with the APSRTC, organized a comprehensive Traffic Awareness Program aimed at educating B. Tech students about road safety, traffic rules, and responsible driving practices. Trainee DSP Ms. Sindhu priya, Mr. Anil Kumar, Motor Vehicle Inspector and Mr. Mallikarjuna DM interacted with the students to raise awareness among students about the importance of road safety and to instil a sense of responsibility towards following traffic rules. With increasing road accidents and fatalities due to negligence, educating young drivers becomes crucial in fostering safer road environments.
✢workshop on Music Therapy and Yoga Benefits
On 10th August 2023, the NSS (National Service Scheme) unit of Gokula Krishna College of Engineering, Sullurpet, in collaboration with the Sahaja Yoga Meditation Centre, organized a transformative event centered on Music Therapy and the benefits of Yoga. The event aimed to promote holistic health and well-being among students and faculty through the healing power of music and the ancient practice of yoga. It provided a platform for students and faculty to explore holistic healing practices and learn from experts in the field. The event underscored the college’s commitment to promoting overall wellness and fostering a healthy campus community.
✢Youth Awareness Program
On 9th February 2024, the NSS unit of GKCE organized a Youth Awareness Program aimed at educating students about crucial social issues such as Anti-ragging, Anti drug and Cyber crime. The program featured an insightful session by Inspector of Police, Sri Kota Rahim Reddy, who recently assumed charge in Sullurpet town.
The primary objective of the program was to enlighten B. Tech and Diploma students on the importance of maintaining discipline, preventing ragging incidents, and addressing eve teasing effectively. The session aimed to create awareness and foster a respectful and safe environment within the college campus and beyond.
