NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS
✢ ENGINEERS’ DAY
On 7th September 2023, the NSS unit organized vibrant celebrations to mark Srikrishnastami, a festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. The event brought together students, faculty, and staff to commemorate this auspicious occasion with traditional rituals and cultural performances. The Bomma Kolu arrangement at GKCE featured a vibrant display of dolls, idols, and figurines meticulously arranged on multiple tiers (padis). “Utti Kottadam,” a traditional practice where hostel boys enthusiastically participated in breaking clay urns. This event symbolizes joy and celebration, echoing the playful spirit of Lord Krishna. Kolattam, a traditional folk dance, captivated the audience with its rhythmic movements and vibrant music, celebrating the essence of Srikrishnastami in a lively and colorful manner. The event not only honoured the traditions associated with Srikrishnastami but also promoted unity and camaraderie among the college community.
✢ INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
International Yoga Day is celebrated globally on 21st June each year to promote yoga as a holistic approach to health and well-being. In adherence to this international observance, the NSS unit of GKCE, in collaboration with Brahma Kumaris, organized a special event to commemorate International Yoga Day 2024. Students, faculty members, and staff gathered with enthusiasm to participate in various yoga activities aimed at enhancing physical, mental, and spiritual health.
✢ National Science day
The National Science Day celebrations at GKCE-Sullurpet on 28th February 2024 were a commendable effort to instil a passion for science and innovation among students. The Science Quiz and Poster Presentation provided valuable platforms for students to showcase their talents and deepen their scientific knowledge. The quiz aimed to test the scientific knowledge and awareness of participating students. It featured questions covering various branches of science, including physics, chemistry, biology, and general science trivia. a Poster Presentation was held with the theme ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). This session provided a platform for students to showcase their research and innovative ideas on indigenous technologies that contribute to the development of India.
✢National Mathematics day
The Department of Humanities and Sciences organized a host of activities ( Power point presentation, Math quiz and Speak mathematics ) on 21st & 22nd December on the occasion of National Mathematics Day commemorating Sri. Srinivasa Ramanujan’s 136th Birthday” . The main objective of the event was to celebrate Sir Ramanujan’s birthday and make students realize the practical and daily life applications of Mathematics in engineering. The event aimed to celebrate the life and contributions of Sir Ramanujan while emphasizing the practical applications of mathematics in engineering and everyday life.
The Program started by lightening the lamp and garlanding Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan’s photo in the Department of Humanities and Sciences.The “Speak Mathematics” session provided a platform for students to articulate and present their understanding of complex mathematical concepts. The presentations underscored the importance of mathematics in various fields of engineering, showcasing its relevance and practical applications in contemporary settings.The quiz questions ranged from basic arithmetic to advanced mathematical concepts, challenging participants to think critically and apply their mathematical knowledge effectively. By engaging students through informative presentations, interactive quizzes, and insightful discussions, the event achieved its goal of fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of mathematics among the participants.
