✢ Global Climate Awareness Campaign

Climate change is one of the most complex issues facing us today. It involves many dimensions – science, economics, society, politics, and moral and ethical questions – and is a global problem, felt on local scales, that will be around for thousands of years. Ms. Geethika Venkatesan a 9th class studying student of Sri Chaitanya English Medium School, Sullurpeta, from the age of 9 Years she conducted more than 300 programs including Irrigation awareness Campaign, Save Nature and Nature Eco System, Save Soil, Global Climate Awareness Campaigns, School Climate Strike, Plantation Programs in urban areas and rural areas Elaborately explained about future problems with the global climate and explained many Ways to Stop Global Warming. The GKCE had a great inspiration when all the students and Faculty proceeded with one tree per person for Plantation.

✢ Eye awareness & Free eye check-up Camp

Two days eye awarness camp was organized under the joint auspices of the Women Grievance Cell and NSS Unit. The primary objective of the camp was to raise awareness among students about common eye diseases, their prevention strategies, and the importance of regular eye check-ups. The camp commenced on 23rd April 2024 with an inaugural ceremony graced by dignitaries from MODREN EYE HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTRE, Nellore. Dr. G. Vishnu Teja, the esteemed Medical Director and Corneal Surgeon, delivered an enlightening presentation on “LASIK LASER,” shedding light on the latest advancements in laser eye surgery and its benefits.

✢ Lecture on Indian Space Programme

Keeping in view, the rising number of crimes against girls in the country, it is important to provide self-defense training to them in the colleges to ensure their safety and security. Self-defense training is a life skill that helps girls to be more aware of their surroundings and be prepared for the unexpected at any time. Through self-defense training, the girls are taught to become psychologically, intellectually, and physically strong enough to protect themselves in times of distress. Self-defense training techniques instill self-confidence amongst girls and help to promote girls’ education particularly their transition to higher secondary level to graduates and to reduce the dropout rate.

The Women’s Grievance cell of GKCE organized a self-defense workshop in order to prepare them to fight the menace and generate awareness among young girls to face the challenges of society while keeping up their own safety on 01-11-2023 to 03-11-23. The aim behind organizing the workshop, which was tag-lined as “Look like a beauty and kick like a Bruce Lee” was in lieu of the situation of women in India when it comes to their safety, thus making girls/women mentally and physically ready for their self-defense. The Trainers made them practice different defense techniques and students and faculty showed a keen interest in the workshop. Around 100 girls and 15 faculty from different courses participated in the workshop with great vigor and learned some kick-ass techniques to combat physical attacks.

✢ Work Shop on Self-Defense (Karate)

Womens’ Empowerment cell in collaboration with SDSC-SHAR, Sriharikota organized a lecture on Indian Space Programme commemorating the birth Anniversary of Dr. Vikram A. Sarabhai on 12th August 2023 in the Nandanam Seminar Hall, GKCP. The Chief guest Ms. R. Preetha DM – Instrumentation systems PM, Cryo Instrumentation systems – ASLP project. who is a Professional Life member of Astronautical Society of India and got Young Scientist Merit Award in the year 2015 delivered her lecture on the Genisis and miles stones of Indian Space Programs and inspired many students and faculty.

✢ WORLD SPACE WEEK PROGRAM (October 4th to October 10th )

World Space Week commemorates the launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, on October 4, 1957, and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967. The Women’s Empowerment Cell of GKCE organized a vibrant and insightful program in celebration of World Space Week on 9th October 2023. This annual event aimed to foster awareness and interest in space exploration, with a special focus on the theme “Space and Entrepreneurship.” In Paper presentation contest, participants explored various aspects of space exploration and its intersection with entrepreneurship. Topics ranged from innovations in space technology to the economic potential of space ventures. Participants showcased their research and insights, sparking thought-provoking discussions among attendees. In poster presentation contest, Participants creatively depicted their ideas and findings related to the theme “Space and Entrepreneurship.” The posters highlighted innovative projects, business models, and visionary ideas that could revolutionize the space industry.

✢ International Women’s Day-2024

Women Empowerment cell of GKCE celebrated International women’s day on 07th March 2024 as a pre celebration. Many events and Games were planned by conducting a meeting with all the faculty and student ambassadors and co-ordinators have been decided. The celebrations began with Mehndi and Fun Games on 6th March 2024 in the afternoon session itself. Stall competition was conducted with the objective of identifying entrepreneurship qualities in girls and developing organizing skills and the basic selling skills among students. The students were provided with the space for stalls and basic furniture to put-up the items. The students spread the message through display on notice board, what app groups and word of mouth. The items included were sandwiches, Cup-cakes, lemon juice, Jewelleries, Stationary items, Ice creams etc. The stalls will be judged on the criteria- Attractiveness of the stall, Variety of saleable items, Total revenue generated and Entrepreneurship skills of the participants. Winners were awarded with Young Entrepreneur and Mehndi queen titles.
